Appropriation

For God and country.

Nationalism and religion have their place. It’s valid to be proud of your roots and beliefs as long as it doesn’t imply superiority over others.

Proud to be Mexican but wouldn’t mind being Salvadorian, or Costa Rican, or Japanese, or Moroccan. Easy enough to fathom.

But religion is a whole different ball game. Religion usually implies an absolute truth. But there being so many religions, and their ties to cultural upbringing. Is there any merit to believing one religion is superior or absolute when one’s membership is based mostly on geographical and cultural chance and propaganda?

Can the dichotomy of absolute truth and falseness imbedded into religious beliefs be taken out without it falling apart? Is appropriating religious beliefs to a modern acceptant ideology decreasing its value?
